Teachers Conference 2014

The Life Sciences Teachers' Conference took place on Friday 20 June 2014. The day was aimed at KS4 and KS5 biology and chemistry teachers and heads of science and included a keynote speech from Sir David King, Special Representative for Climate Change, who talked about Climate Change and the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy Security..

The event offered educators an opportunity take part in CPD sessions where Chemists were able to carry out two syntheses to illustrate the use of phosphine ligands to stabilise a transition-metal centre, as well as characterising these complexes by infrared and melting point, and for Biologists there was a demonstration of some experimental approaches that modern biologists use to address the ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions of animal behaviour.

This one day conference was free to attend and included a networking lunch. To see the full programme, along with photos, feedback quotes and downloads from the day – or to find contact details for future events -  please visit the Life Sciences Teachers' Conference 2014 website.
