Sussex was awarded a research grant by Echo360 to investigate how the ‘Personal Capture’ version of Echo360 might be used to further enhance student learning.

The project team included John Davies and Clare Hardman in the Teaching and Learning Development Unit.

Project participants were asked to think about how they can record short pieces at critical points in a course to support student learning.

The project team thought that there was a real opportunity to use Echo 360 Personal Capture to:

  • help students know where they are going with the course, how it might relate to other courses and what the tutor expects;
  • clarify questions raised by students on a particular topic or concept, or prepare students for their first piece of assessment;
  • provide an end-of-course synopsis or help prepare for the end of year exams.

The value of these recordings were evaluated through questionnaires and interviews with staff and students.
