Postgraduate Poster Presentation
The 2013 Postgraduate Poster Presentation event will take place on Wednesday 26th June at 4pm in Lab 1, Chichester 1.
This is an annual event which gives you an opportunity to present your project in an informal way to faculty, your fellow students, the Informatics Industrial Advisory Board and selected external guests.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to:
- focus and reflect on your project so far
- set yourself targets to work towards
- inform potential employers, faculty and your colleagues of your work
- gain important feedback
- gain invaluable experience in presenting your work and your ideas
- network with potential employers
Don't worry if you do not have results at this stage of your project, or if your project has only just started to take shape. The idea of the poster presentation is for you to present a coherent story of what you intend to do and why it is of interest (as well as any results if you have any).
It is a very good opportunity to think about the scope of your project, and will be very useful in helping you to plan the rest of your work. Perhaps most importantly, the event provides a chance for you to get some feedback and ideas from your peers, members of faculty and industry guests.
At previous years' events, a number of projects attracted interest from attending companies, with students being offered interviews, collaboration, etc. There will be refreshments and cash prizes for the best posters. All full-time Masters students and those in the second year of a part-time Masters are strongly encouraged to take part. Part-time students in their first year can also take part if they wish.
Please note that the poster presentation is compulsory (marked) for MSc Advanced Computer Science.
2nd Year PGR students are required to present as part of their Student's Report in their Annual Review.
Other PGR years are also welcome to present a poster at the event; although not compulsory it would allow you to gather useful input for your research.
