Campus life
The Security Unit plays a lead role in the security of all official events at the University, including the visits of many leading dignitaries. In liaison with organisers, arrangements are made for the safe reception of visitors and the parking of their vehicles. Event organisers should give the Unit as much notice as possible of their requirements and in particular in relation to visitors who may require special arrangements to ensure their safety. The Unit will liaise with the police as and when required.
The Unit also acts as a co-ordination centre for the entire University outside of 'normal hours'. Should there be a need to contact any service in that period, contact the control room on 01273 678234.
The Security Unit instigates major or minor emergency plans, should the need arise.
