Sign up to help with Covid-19 testing

We're taking part in a UK government scheme to offer lateral flow testing devices (LFDs) to universities in England, as part of its plan to enable students to return safely to campus after the Christmas break. We need your help with a mass Covid-19 testing programme on our campus.

What’s involved

You will work on campus from 8.30am to 5.30pm, on days that you are available. We’re currently looking for staff to help us during May and June. The centre will be closed on Sundays.

We are also keen to hear from staff who are able to work only part of a day.

You will be working, spaced out from others, in a completely Covid-secure environment. Appropriate PPE (including an apron, face covering and gloves) will be provided.

We are carefully thinking through the appropriate government guidelines and the necessary safety measures.

You will receive appropriate online training before carrying out any duties in the test centre. No experience is necessary; anybody can help.

You will get a lunch and refreshments for every day you choose to help out with mass testing.

What you need to do

Check your availability, then fill in the form below.

Staff

If your normal working hours are part-time, we will make arrangements for you to receive overtime payments or time off in lieu (TOIL), as appropriate.

If you normally work full-time and you work in the test centre on a weekend, you will be eligible for TOIL.

Please let your Head of School or Director of Professional Services know that you are putting yourself forward.

Students

You will need to sign in your hours on arrival and departure on the days you work. You will be sent a form to complete so you can be paid.

If you have not completed right-to-work checks with our HR department, you will not be allowed to work. If you need to complete right-to-work checks, email human.resources@sussex.ac.uk.
