Poster printing
Presenting your research at a conference? Here's how to print your poster!
Posters can be printed from Powerpoint or PDF format. The printer is located in the Pevensey 1 social space, and you'll need your access card to get in.
Alternatively, school technician Martha Casey can print your poster for you. She will need a minimum of 3 working days' notice.
If the printer is running low on paper or ink, please contact Martha.
We regret that we don't (yet) have the ability to print posters on fabric. If you'd prefer a fabric poster, we have heard good things about Science Posters.
- How to print
-
Before you print:
Create your poster on your own computer.
Make sure you create the poster at actual size – check with your conference organizer if you’re unsure what the correct size is.
Make sure your poster is in an appropriate format. For best results we suggest using Powerpoint or PDF.
Save the poster to a USB (or store it in an online drive/email etc where you can access it.
To print:
Log in as Printy McPoster using the password Printy123 (note capitals).
Press the home button on printer to wake it up. Do not switch the printer on or off.
Insert your USB (or navigate to where you saved the file) and locate your file. Drag it to the desktop.
Open Free Layout Plus. This program allows you to see a true representation of your print job, so for example you can print two smaller posters next to each other and they’ll print exactly as you lay them out on the screen.
Drag and drop your file from the desktop into the program, and click Fixed layout.
The file will appear in the program, which will autoselect the correct paper size and layout. You can choose to enlarge or reduce it using the controls if you wish.
Click Next, then Print.
The poster will print and the paper will cut automatically.
If you brought a USB: eject it. Be very careful to eject your USB, NOT the printer!
If you downloaded your file, please delete it from the desktop.
