Biography

Hannah Macpherson is a geographer and research programme manager with expertise in participatory research, arts-based methods, inclusion and critical theory. She holds a MA in Environment and Planning Research from the University of Newcastle and a PhD entitled 'Landscapes of visual-impairment and blindness’. She is co-author of  'Inclusive arts practice and research: a critical manifesto' (Routledge 2015) and works alongside colleagues internationally to explore opportunities and applications for inclusive arts methods. She was Principal Investigator on the RCUK funded intervention 'Collaborative community arts for resilience' and worked as a consultant for IDS Sussex on the 'Towards Brown Gold' Sustainable off-grid sanitation research programme (2021-2025). Her teaching and practice addresses contemporary issues in human geography; social and cultural geographies; qualitative research methods and creative methods for inclusive teaching, research and impact.
