Accreditation

BCS logoBCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, accredits computing qualifications in the UK. As well as accrediting degrees as contributing to the requirements for Chartered IT Professional (CITP) registration, BCS is licensed by the Engineering Council and by the Science Council, which means that it also accredits degrees as meeting or partially meeting the educational requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) registration.

BCS publishes detailed information on becoming chartered and about Higher Education accreditation, but briefly: CITP registration can be obtained with an accredited integrated Masters degree (MComp), or a Bachelors Honours degree plus a year of further learning beyond graduation; CEng or CSci registration can be obtained with an accredited integrated Masters degree (MComp), or a Bachelors Honours degree accredited as partially fulfilling the respective educational criteria plus either an appropriate accredited Masters degree or appropriate further learning to Masters level.

Our current and recent degree courses are accredited as below. The 'with an Industrial Placement Year' courses have the same levels of accreditation as the corresponding non-placement courses.
