Sussex Estates and Facilities are responsible for providing general services for living on campus, including cleaning, portering, maintenance, and security.

To ensure the safety and comfort of all of our residents on campus, we make sure to provide an immediate point of contact for any problem or enquiry, whether it's an emergency or a minor concern.

If you wish to inform us of a maintenance or cleaning issue, contact your porter and follow our escalation process. Consult the included Priority List before escalating your issue.

For enquiries regarding your Licence to Occupy Agreement, rent payments, or your accommodation, contact Housing Services.

Information for residents

For most issues and enquiries, your porter is available on-site at your accommodation during the day. For general non-urgent issues such as repairs, maintenance, cleaning etc., your porter should be your first point of contact; they will record and investigate your issue and ensure that it is resolved as quickly as possible. The residential porters are also responsible for your mail, which can be found in mailboxes in the porter's lodge. The operating times for porters can be found below.

If you have a problem when out-of-hours, we also have a 24-hour reception in York House you can contact. If you have a maintenance emergency (eg a flood or a power outage), then call ext 7777 (01273 87 7777), or your porter if living off-campus.

If you have another emergency that cannot wait until the morning, call the Security Office on 01273 (87) 3333, or call 999 if living off-campus. For more information on who to contact in an emergency, consult the emergencies page.

If you have any general questions about accommodation or wish to leave feedback, you can contact your Building Manager as listed below. Please do not contact the Service Centre to report an issue in residences, as your porter or building manager will assist with the issue instead.

We also host weekly drop-in sessions for each residence, where any resident can stop by and talk about any issues or queries with their Building Manager. These take place every Wednesday during termtime, from 1pm to 3pm in your residence's reception.
