Don’t leave computers or devices unlocked

Make sure you lock your computer every time you leave it unattended.

Every device you own should have a password or PIN code.

Ensure that any storage media that contains sensitive or personal information (USB sticks, external hard drives, flash drives, CDs, etc.) are physically secure and stored separately from your computer.

It's better to use supported cloud file storage rather than physical storage media. Sussex provides Microsoft OneDrive (for students and staff) and Box (for staff). Both provide secure storage for your files which you can access from any device.
