A number of Windows 7 computers will reboot at 4:30pm today - 30 May 2019

Posted: Thu 30 May 2019, 11:38am.

A security scan of the Sussex network has revealed that a number of desktop PCs and laptops are running without vital security patches.

If your Sussex desktop PC is still running Windows 7, it may reboot at 4:30pm today to apply the patches. If this is going to affect you, you will get a warning half an hour before the reboot and we will do our best to identify the owners of these computers so we can contact you in advance.

If you have a Windows 7 laptop, you must check that your computer is properly updated. Search for ‘Windows update’ in the Start Menu and check that the latest updates have been applied (this may require a reboot). ITS reserves the right to ban computers with significant security vulnerabilities from the Sussex network in order to protect our systems.
