A particularly convincing phishing email has been reported by several members of staff. With the recent increase in phishing scams, we are urging everyone to be on their guard.
This message claims that your email account is being disabled with immediate effect because your email address has been used to send emails that violate our terms and conditions. It provides a link to cancel the deactivation, which leads to a non-Sussex URL. This is a fake website designed to convince you to give away your login details.
Please note that if your email account is ever compromised you will be contacted by the IT Service Desk, but you will not be asked to follow a link or provide your login details.
You can read the text of this email on the IT Services security page.
If you receive this email please delete it and do not follow the link. If you receive emails in the future that you think might be phishing attacks, please forward them to support@sussex.ac.uk to be checked and reported.
