Email using Entourage (Mac OS X)
Open Accounts settings:
First open the Accounts settings. Select Accounts from the Entourage Tools menu.
You may need to create new settings:
In this example, there are some existing settings, so we can select the sussex.ac.uk settings and click edit to change them (skipping to the Edit Account step). If you don't have existing settings to edit, then click on new. Select IMAP as the account type, and click OK:
Edit account settings:
You should now see an Edit Account dialog like this. Use any account name that you like - that's just for your reference. Fill out your name and Sussex email address as you like them to appear in emails, but note that our mail server may override these in outgoing email.
The Account ID should contain your username, and you may choose to save your password in the keychain. Set the IMAP and SMTP servers as mail.sussex.ac.uk and smtp.sussex.ac.uk respectively. We keep these services separate in order to improve the performance of each.
Advanced receiving settings
Now, set the advanced receiving options. Our server does require a secure connection, but you should not override the default port, or use a secure password. The SSL connection keeps your password secure.
Advanced sending settings:
Now, set the advanced sending options. Our server does require a secure connection, and this time you should override the default port - set the port number to 587. Our server does require authentication, and you can use the same settings as the receiving server.
