Access Dropbox using Web Drive


Dropbox displays just like another drive when connected through WebDriveStaff and students can now use WebDrive to connect to Dropbox files more easily. Once connected, your Dropbox account will be available like other drives on your PC (N: drive, G: drive etc.).

Configure WebDrive to connect to your Dropbox account

Then you just need to link WebDrive to your Dropbox account. Your Dropbox files will then be available like any other drive on your PC.

  1. Click Start > All Programs > Webdrive > Webdrive
  2. Click New
  3. Choose Dropbox and click Next
  4. Click the Login to Dropbox button
  5. Login with your Dropbox account and click Allow
  6. Now go back to Webdrive and click Advanced Settings
  7. On the left, click Basic File Settings
  8. Ensure Cache temporary MS Office files is selected
  9. On the left click Basic Cache Settings
  10. Untick Inherit global cache settings
  11. Select Custom under Cache Mode
  12. Tick Cache Files
  13. Tick Validate cached files with server modified time
  14. Tick Cache Directory Listings
  15. Tick Expire cached listings after (x) seconds
  16. Enter 300 in box
  17. Click OK
  18. Click Next
  19. Choose a name for you Dropbox site
  20. Choose an available drive letter
  21. Select Connect at login/startup to automatically connect to Dropbox when you login
  22. Click Connect Now

Cache settings recommended for WebDrive connections to Dropbox

Your Dropbox should now be available via drive letter you selected and you can click Finish to close the WebDrive window.

Note
If WebDrive stops responding for more than a few minutes when you're connecting for the first time, restart your computer and then try again to configure the WebDrive connection.
