Buying a Mac
The SUPC has an agreement on pricing with Apple computers, which offers substantial discounts. Prices for desktop computers start at about £450, and laptops start at about £730. The HE store can be used by staff or students alike. All prices are VAT inclusive.

Purchasing tips
Networking
All Apple computers come with Ethernet ports which are compatible with the University's wired network. Apple's "Airport Express" wireless network cards are compatible with the University's wireless roaming network.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is used for wireless connection to peripherals such as keyboards, PDAs and mobile phones. All Apple computers have Bluetooth built in.
Software
All Apple computers come with a good selection of software for email, web browsing, digital photography, music (iTunes), film, dvd and web production (iLife). Don't use the preinstalled software option offered after selecting your Mac - it's more expensive and installing the software takes very little effort.
