Email settings

If you're having trouble connecting to your email at Sussex, or if there isn't a guide for your device, this page gives the general settings that you will need to connect almost any mail program with your Sussex email.

Mail systems
There are two email systems at Sussex. Email for staff and research postgraduates is based on an Exchange system and accounts for students and taught postgraduates are held on a Cyrus mail server.

Methods of connecting
You can use IMAP to collect your incoming email and SMTP to send email regardless of which system you use. If you are a member of staff or a DPhil student and you want to be able to connect to your calendar and contacts as well as your email, you should try to use an Exchange connection if your device supports it. However, all users should be able to use their email with the settings in this guide.
