Storing OneNote Notebooks in OneDrive


Storing OneNote Notebooks in OneDrive has several advantages:

  • You notebook will be backed-up in the cloud, keeping it safe if your computer fails
  • Notebooks stored in OneDrive can be accessed from any location; desktop, mobile app, via a web browser.
  • Notebooks can be shared with colleagues and external users.

How to Move a Local Notebook to OneDrive

Notebooks stored locally in Sussex Home or Group drives can be moved to OneDrive by following this procedure:

  1. Open the OneNote desktop application
  2. Select the Notebook you want to move
  3. Click File > Share
  4. Choose the OneDrive - University of Sussex (if you don't see this, follow the steps to add OneDrive as a location, logging in with your Sussex username@sussex.ac.uk (eg, ano123@sussex.ac.uk) and your Sussex password)
  5. Click Browse
  6. Choose or create a folder to store the Notebook
  7. Enter a name for the Notebook
  8. Click the Move button
  9. This will begin moving your OneNote to the cloud.  After a while you should get a confirmation message that the Notebook has been moved.

From now on all changes to the Notebook will be automatically synced to OneDrive.
