1 Click on 'Add an activity' within the section where you want to add the forum.
2 Click on 'Forum,' under 'Discussion' heading.
3 Forum Name: add a name, this is the name that students will see when the forum is listed on your site.
4 Forum Type: select the type of forum that you want, from the drop-down menu. A description of 'types' is given by clicking on the corresponding question mark.
5 Forum Introduction: add an introduction. A student will see the forum introduction at the top of the page. This text should tell the student what the forum is about.
6 It is recommended that all the other settings are left at their default values.
7 Click 'save and return to site'
8 You should now see your forum on the site. Click on the forum name.
9 To start this forum and add a discussion click 'Add a new discussion topic.'
