The Preschool aims to develop children's self confidence, self expression, sharing and caring and to give them social experience with other children and adults in preparation for their introduction to the formal education system. Focus is also on sufficient visual auditory and finer co-ordination skills to begin reading and writing. The emphasis is on learning through play and this is achieved in a happy, relaxed but stimulating environment.
The Preschool is a member of Brighton and Hove City Early Years Childcare and Play and is registered by Ofsted to provide Early Years education. Working within the 7 areas of the EYFS Government Early Years Framework, activities and experience are provided which enable children to progress towards the early learning goals. The 7 areas include: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; Communication and Language; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Expressive Art and Design.
