Outlook cannot connect to Exchange

If you find that Outlook, which had been working fine before, will not connect to Exchange (it may say that 'Exchange is not available'), then it's possible that your Outlook profile is damaged and needs recreating.

Check first that other online services are available and that you can connect to your email using Outlook Web App (OWA).   If other services do not work either then there may be an overall problem - check the IT Services Latest News (see the ITS home page).

If other services are working correctly, including OWA, then try re-creating your Outlook profile, deleting the old one first.   Close Outlook before you do this.   Instructions for doing this can be found in section 2 of the Guide to Outlook for Staff and Researchers.   Note that you'll need to remove the old profile first, as explained in step 5 of the instructions.
