The
Centre for the Study of Corruption, based in the school of Law, Politics and Sociology (LPS), has received a research grant of £229,000 from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). This is additional funding towards the Centre's existing Governance & Integrity Anti-Corruption Evidence programme, bringing that programme's total funding to £4.6 million over three years.
The new grant will support three research strands, covering: the mispricing of intangible assets to facilitate money laundering; the capture of government integrity functions by corrupt actors; and mapping offshore enablers of corruption, led by Dr Dan Haberly from the Department of Geography.
Professor Liz David-Barrett, Director of the Centre for the Study of Corruption, welcomed the new grant, saying:
'Our team is researching one of the world's most critical issues, and this new funding reflects both the need for a better evidence base in tackling corruption and the high regard in which the University of Sussex's Centre for the Study of Corruption is held.'
