This workshop is for all staff in, or aspiring to step into, leadership and management roles, including more experienced colleagues seeking a helpful refresher.

Being a new manager and leader involves taking on fresh responsibilities and embracing a new mindset. This session is designed to help colleagues transition into people manager roles by raising awareness of the mindset shift required, leadership styles and core practices to being an effective manager and leader at Sussex.

Please note you will be asked to read through some light touch coursework in advance of this workshop.

Session objectives:

Explore what it means to be a leader and manager at Sussex aligned to the Sussex Competency Framework
Differentiate between operational management and leadership behaviours
Review different leadership and management styles and begin to shape your own style
