Take charge of your research and referencing with Zotero. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to build and organise your personal library of sources, instantly cite as you write and reference academic texts accurately.

This session will focus on using Zotero to reference common academic sources: journal articles, books and book chapters.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Describe Zotero’s key features and understand how it supports the process of collecting, citing, and organising academic references.
• Use Zotero to add, cite, and organise references effectively for your research.
• Evaluate references for accuracy and completeness, recognising that automated tools can make mistakes.

Important: there is an expectation that attendees will have made an account with Zotero and installed the desktop app, the web importer and the Word plug-in. For guidance on these steps, see the Getting Setup section of the Library's Zotero guide.

We will not be covering these setup activities during the session.

Ipad Users: Zotero is mainly designed to be used with laptops or PCs rather than iPads and tablets. If you are using an iPad and have no access to a laptop or PC, contact us on our email and we can arrange a 121 to look at the Zotero iPad app's functionality and if this isn't what you're looking for, we can discuss potential alternatives.
