Updated: Overseas Travel Safety and Security Risk Assessment (OTSSRA) Form

Where staff or Post Graduate Researchers (PGR) are planning to travel abroad on university business (work, research or study), they are required to complete an Overseas Travel Safety and Security Risk Assessment (OTSSRA) form.
Following a period of consultation with the University’s legal, finance, insurance and compliance teams, the OTSSRA form has been reviewed and updated to make the process clearer for Faculty’s and Divisions, and to improve oversight of the University’s travel risk.
The main changes to the form:
- Reflect changes to the Foreign Commonwealth Office (now Foreign Commonwealth Development Office).
- Improve data capture of travel authorisation.
- Include requirements relating to travelling to locations on the University list of sanctioned countries.
The form and its supporting guidance are available on the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Team website and must be followed with immediate effect.
