Monday 1 December 14:00 until 15:00
University of Sussex Campus : Sussex Humanities Lab (opposite SB211) Silverstone Building
Part of the series: SHL Digital Research Forum
You are invited to the Sussex Digital Humanities Lab Research Forum, a relaxed space to meet and share ideas and interests. At each Research Forum we welcome 3 or more speakers to share:
1. On-going work: to share updates on current projects.
2. Bids in development: for support and feedback from the research community during bid development.
3. New ideas- the 3 Minute pitch: to brainstorm your initial seeds for future projects and possible funding bids.
In this forum we will hear from:
- Queer Codebreakers: Since 2020 Queer Codebreakers (2.0) has been part of the Queer the Pier exhibition in the Brighton and Hove Museum. This piece, a collaboration between computational artist Elle Castle, Sharon Webb, SHL Digital and Queer in Brighton/Queer Heritage South, is currently being revamped and upgraded. Sharon Webb and Nic Seymour-Smith will present on the upgraded version, Queer Codebreakers 3.0, and are interested in ways to expand the idea.
- Dr Anna Jordanous is a Reader in the School of Computing at the University of Kent. Her research areas include computational creativity and its evaluation, music informatics, digital humanities, knowledge modelling, Semantic Web, and natural language processing. Primarily she works with computational creativity - the modelling, simulation or replication of creative activities and behaviour using computational means - with a focus on the question of how to evaluate claims of computer software being creative.
The Research Forum is open to Sussex researchers at all career levels interested in developing research projects at the intersections of digital technology, society, culture and environment. PGRs are welcome and encouraged to attend, please share this with your PhD students!
The SHL Digital networking lunch is available from 1pm and the forum will start at 2pm prompt.
