Celebrating International Youth Day on 12 August – recognising the voices, ideas and leadership of young people around the world.
International Youth Day is a moment to recognise and celebrate the voices, achievements and contributions of young people around the world. This year’s theme focuses on how digital transformation is reshaping education and learning, and the importance of making these opportunities inclusive, accessible and equitable.
Digital technology is creating new ways for young people to connect, learn and lead, but it can also widen existing inequalities. International Youth Day invites all of us to reflect on how we can support youth-led change and ensure no one is left behind in a rapidly changing world.
At Sussex, we continue to learn from and with young people every day. As a university, we are shaped by the ideas, experiences and energy of our students and early career staff. Young people drive innovation in teaching, research and activism, and play a central role in advancing equity and inclusion across our community. Their perspectives, creativity and commitment help challenge assumptions, open up new ways of thinking, and move us towards a more just and sustainable future.
