PG finalist deadline approaching: 10 ways to log your Spirit of Sussex Award points!

Log your Spirit of Sussex Award points by 1 August 2025!
As a university-accredited award, SoSA is an excellent way of demonstrating your transferrable skills to employers when you graduate from Sussex and supports you to showcase your passions, which can help you stand out from other candidates. It also comes with extra perks: you’ll get an additional certificate at graduation, a pin badge at the SoSA celebration event, and an opportunity to win £200 towards a prize of your choice!
Struggling to think of what to log for? Check out our top 10 ways to log below!
- Have you had/ do you have a part-time job? Log these in the Work Experience category under the question “Do you have a part-time job?” (+5 points)
- Have you joined any Academic Skills or ELAS workshops? Log this in the Training and Development category.
- Academic Skills – use the question: “Have you participated in Academic Skills workshops or webinars?” (+5 points)
- ELAS – use the question “Have you participated in any English for Academic Study workshops?” (+5 points)
- Have you been a course rep or student rep? Log these in the Student Representation & Democracy category under the question “Are or have you been a student or course rep?” (+10 points)
- Have you taken part in any Careers development activities? (jobs fairs, workshops, careers consultations, job interviews, LinkedIn learning) Log this in the Work Experience category under the question “Have you accessed any career-readiness & employability support?”(+5 points)
- Have you been a part of a Club or Society? Log these in the Society and Media Membership category.
- Members - use the question: “Are you a member or a participant of a society or community?” (+5 points each)
- Committee members – use the question:“Are you a member or a participant of a society or community?” (+10 points each)
- Presidents – use the question: “Are you president of a Students' Union or BSMS society?” (+15 points)
- If you were previously a member and are now a committee member or president, you can log these as separate points.
- Have you taken part in any wellbeing activities, like Canine Cuddles, Halloween @ Sussex, Valentine’s @Sussex, or community cafes? Log this in Sports and Wellbeing category under the question “Have you participated in mindfulness or well-being activities?” (+5 points)
- Have you developed a new hobby or skills?
- Log hobbies in the Creativity and Culture category under the question “Have you started or developed a new hobby or craft?” (+5 points)
- Log new skills in the Training and Development category under the question “Have you been regularly studying a new skill in addition to your course?” (+5 points)
- Do you regularly go to the gym, attend sports sessions or classes, or take part in ActiveUs activities? Log these in the Sports and Wellbeing category under the question “Have you participated in any regular organised sporting activity?” (+5 points)
- Have you watched a performance, been to a festival, attended an exhibition, or taken part in a protest? Log this in the Creativity and Culture category under the question “Have you been involved in any creative or cultural activity?” (+5 points)
- Do you practice a faith? Log these in the Creativity and Culture category under the question “Have you been involved and engaged with a faith or religious society or community?” (+5 points)
