Need to know – practical changes to our facilities management services from July
Posted on behalf of: Better Campus
Last updated: Friday, 20 June 2025

With Sussex’s new facilities management contract coming into effect on Tuesday 1 July, we’re making some important changes to the ways staff and students can interact with our services.
Making it easier to contact the Estates Helpdesk
- The Estates Helpdesk (formerly known as the Service Centre) is now available 24/7, all year round
- To raise a task request or a general enquiry you can contact the Helpdesk via e-mail at EstatesHelpdesk@sussex.ac.uk or scan one of the new Estates QR codes that will be placed at convenient locations across campus.
- For urgent issues and requests – please call 01273 87 7777.
For a list of issues that the Helpdesk can help with, please visit the Estates Helpdesk webpage.
If you have a security emergency, or feel unsafe for any reason, please call 01273 873333 to speak to the Security team directly.
Changes to SEF email addresses
We’re streamlining the way our facilities management services work. To reflect this process, from 1 July all @sef.fm email addresses will change to @sussex.ac.uk email addresses. This includes the below:
- EstatesHelpdesk@sussex.ac.uk
- security@sussex.ac.uk
- Residential inboxes (e.g. northfield@sussex.ac.uk)
- All personal email addresses.
The contact address for residents in Swanborough, Brighthelm and Norwich House will be changing to swanborough@sussex.ac.uk.
From July, any email sent to a closed SEF account will receive an automatic reply containing the new email address.
The Estates website will be updated with all new contact information from 1 July.
The Print Unit is closing
Finally, as previously communicated, as part of the University’s continued focus on financial resilience, the Print Unit will close on Monday 30 June and is now only able to accept orders that can be completed before that date. A new, external print service called ‘Print Marketplace’ is now available for staff and students to use.
For more information about print at Sussex and answers to questions around print specifications, payment and delivery, please read the guidance on the External Print webpage.
