Print Unit to close on Monday 30 June

In March, the University announced that the Print Unit would close at the end of June. This decision was made due to declining use of the service and high operating costs, resulting in the Unit running at a loss for several years.
Following the announcement, we gathered feedback from staff across the University to help us better understand the impact of the potential change.
Further discussions have since taken place to ensure positive outcomes for all parties when the Print Unit closes on Monday 30 June, in keeping with University of Sussex values.
What happens next?
- From Friday 13 June you will only be able to submit new orders if they can be completed before the Print Unit closes on Monday 30 June. Print Unit staff will be able to advise on what is and isn’t possible.
- A new, external print service called Print Marketplace is now available for anyone with a Sussex email address to use. Print Marketplace is a UK-wide digital platform developed by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) to enable public-sector organisations to purchase print from pre-approved suppliers at competitive prices.
