Developing your Leadership and Management skills:
As well as the workshops we offer as part of the Manger’s Toolkit, there are some leadership and management courses on LearnUpon that will help you develop and enhance your skills. These courses aren’t all just aimed for those in management roles though!
Once you have accessed LearnUpon use the green button at the top of the page to navigate to the Catalogue to search the courses:
Building Trust
Designed with a particular focus on new leaders but suitable for all staff, this course looks at how trust develops, its importance in working relationships and what we can do to improve our own ability to build and maintain it.
Challenging Behaviour
Combining original drama with personal testimony and expert analysis, this course covers a wide range of bullying and harassment issues, giving employees the tools for recognising and tackling inappropriate behaviour and the skills for working successfully as part of a diverse team.
Developing Emotional Intelligence
In this course, trainer, psychotherapist and writer Barry Winbolt looks at the five core ‘pillars’ of emotional intelligence and shows how improving our emotional intelligence can help us increase our resilience, build and maintain constructive relationships and deal with difficult situations and people.
Disabled adventures in work and recruitment - Short Film
Employers often tend to see the disability before the person and make assumptions about their needs and capabilities – and this can mean that the skills and potential of disabled job applicants and staff are not being properly recognised. This short film provides personal insight and guidance on recruiting and employing disabled people and sets out how to provide reasonable adjustments and support in the workplace.
Inclusive Leadership
This programme contains insights from pioneers in the field of inclusive leadership, combined with original drama demonstrating inclusive leadership in action and tools for developing inclusive leadership skills at all levels of your organisation.
Influencing People
This course looks at why we might need to influence others in the workplace, sets out a range of different influencing behaviours and strategies and shows how we can improve our own ability to influence those around us.
Insiders and Outsiders
Recommended as a follow on from our Unconscious Bias e-learning, you will explore the concepts and impacts of micro-inequities and unconscious bias and learn strategies and actions necessary to minimise the damaging effects.
Managing Remote Workers
Designed for organisations that are either new to remote working or looking to expand the flexible working options they offer their staff, this course looks at the benefits and challenges of remote working and provides advice for leaders and managers on how to ensure that their home workers remain connected, engaged and productive.
Recruitment and Selection
The University must ensure that we recruit equitably and within the law. All staff who are involved in recruitment are required to complete this course within a month of employment.
Supporting trans and non-binary people at work: A guide for managers
Knowing how to support your trans and non-binary staff and create a respectful and safe environment for them is key to promoting their own personal well-being and ensuring that your organisation manages to harness and nurture the very best talent. This short course provides an essential toolkit for managers in managing and supporting trans and non-binary staff at all levels of an organisation.
Unconscious Bias
Our unconscious bias e-learning aims to increase awareness of unconscious bias and its impact on people with protected characteristics, and to reduce discriminatory behaviour and attitudes in the workplace. This course is recommended for all staff and mandatory for Grades 7 and above.
Understanding Equality Impact Assessments
An Equality Impact Assessment will help you analyse your policies and practices to make sure they do not discriminate against or disadvantage people and that they promote equality in your organisation. This course consists of 40 minutes of in-depth training with films, learner notes and quiz.
