Students and staff in the School of Business, Management and Economics have raised £295 for Samaritans by holding a 'depressed cake' sale to support of World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October. 

The aim of the event was to promote self-care within the School community and inform both students and staff about mental health support available on and off campus.

A 'depressed cake' is a cake made with grey icing to symbolise depression, usually with a colourful centre to represent hope, intended as a conversation starter for discussions about mental health.

If you missed the sale you can find an information table in the Jubilee atrium along with our BMEc Gratitude Tree, which allows you to leave a message of thanks for anyone who has helped or supported you. Please feel free to take away leaflets, add a message to the tree or take a bit of time out to do some theraputic colouring in!
