The International Summer School (ISS) has again recruited well.
In summer 2015 we will have 533 students, on a par with our numbers for the last 5 years. It will certainly keep the Jubilee Building buzzing over the summer.
Business, Management and Economics modules continue to prove popular, as do modules in Physics, Psychology and other humanities and social science subjects. As most years, the bulk of our students will come from North America, but we will have a party of 26 students from one of our partners, the City University of Hong Kong, as well as, in total, students from 30 different countries.
This year we increased our scholarship offering, giving individual students full tuition, accommodation and £500 towards travel. We had over 100 applicants from developing countries and have awarded scholarships to 14 students from countries such as China, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mexico and Ukraine.
The ISS students will all be offered the chance to experience British culture with visits planned to Stonehenge and Bath, London, Oxford, Cambridge and, of course, the Harry Potter studio in North London as well as local trips to the Seven Sisters and Brighton.
Seeking to further diversify, ISS staff visited Berlin at the end of April to promote the Summer School at an international study fair with a member of the BMEc External Enagagement team - a great example of how we continue to share our resourses and knowledge and work together within the School.
