The British Medical Journal has shortlisted Professor Lesley Fallowfield, director of the CRUK Psychosocial Oncology Group, for its 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award.
The BMJ says Lesley "has made an outstanding and lasting contribution to improving the quality of care received by patients with cancer". It describes her as "one of the world's leading exponents of psycho-oncology research, developing and validating numerous instruments to measure quality of life in cancer trials", and goes on: "Her group's evidence based and award winning training courses in communication skills have improved the skills of hundreds of clinicians and are now firmly embedded in teaching programmes worldwide."
You can vote for Lesley - one of 10 candidates to be shortlisted, from 117 nominations - at www.bmj.com until 12 February.
The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony in London on 10 March.
