Professor Andrea Cornwall is to be Acting Head of Global Studies from 1 September, when Professor Richard Black leaves Sussex to take up a senior post at SOAS, University of London.
Professor Black, who has been Head of Global Studies since the School was established in 2009, is moving to SOAS – a world-leading institution for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East – as Pro-Director (Research and Enterprise).
Professor Cornwall, a Professor of Anthropology and Development in the School of Global Studies, will be Acting Head until the arrival of a new Head of School. The appointment process for a permanent successor to Professor Black is already under way.
