Student Sally Hughes, captain of the Sussex women’s table tennis team, won two medals at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships at the weekend (23 and 24 February).
Sally won bronze medals in both the mixed doubles and women’s doubles, alongside fellow students Kei Li and Nina Gausmann respectively.
Nina also won the women’s plate and Kei narrowly missed out on a medal in the men’s contest after he was knocked out in the quarter final.
Meanwhile, Ellie Reynolds picked up the bronze medal in women's intermediate kata (karate) and Roisin McNeil won the women's plate in squash.
Ellie, Kei and Sally currently receive Development Athlete Awards as part of the Sussexsport bursary scheme.
