The University of Sussex has been ranked among the top 15 in the country for student satisfaction in a new online guide for prospective students.
The University scored 82 per cent for satisfaction with areas such as quality of teaching and facilities, putting Sussex 14th out of more than 100 universities in the UK featured on the Which? University web site.
The free website will, according to its creators, allow prospective students to build shortlists and narrow down courses by categories such as location (city, town, rural area and seaside), entry requirements and universities offering a strong nightlife.
Sussex also features in the top 10 universities for nightlife, as chosen by students, due to the diverse attractions of nearby Brighton, and ranks sixth in the UK for being politically engaged.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Farthing says: “It is good to see that student opinion rates Sussex so highly in the Which? university guide, at a time when the quality of higher education in the UK is being tested as never before.
"We continue to learn from and build on the feedback offered by guides such as Which?, the National Student Survey and others, and to offer the best experience possible for our students.”
Prospective students can also use Which? University to discover advice about sorting out finances and detailed information such as graduate employment rates and the percentage of previous applicants that received offers for specific courses.
The web site worked in partnership with the National Union of Students, sought opinion from the Student Unions of all the featured institutions and includes comments gathered from more than 10,000 current students to gain a student’s eye-view of life at university.
The web site also draws on data from the National Student Survey, UCAS, HESA Student Record and the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey.
