Thursday 12 February 2026 will see the inaugural Lantern and Lights trail at University of Sussex delivered by award winning community arts charity, Same Sky. Named Glimmer, the event is open to University of Sussex staff, students and their loved ones, all ages are welcome. Tickets are free but booking is essential.

Glimmer is a celebration that brings the campus community together to welcome the changing seasons at this free ticketed event. 

Seek out illuminated wonders, where woodland wildlife and hidden gems await your eyes and ears amongst the iconic campus architecture and landscape.  

The trail starts by Arts A cafe, meanders around Spence Quarter and ends at the lawns by Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) where we gather to enjoy warming food and drinks.   

Get ready for Glimmer by booking into an artist led lantern workshop. Let’s get making together.

Don’t forget, you can log points towards your Spirit of Sussex Award for taking part in this event! Log them in the Creativity and Culture category  using the question “have you been involved in any creative or cultural activity?” 

Glimmer is commissioned by Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts working in partnership with Faculty of Media Arts & Humanities, Student Engagement, Careers & Entrepreneurship, University Chaplaincy, Estates & Facilities.
