Earlier today, Kelly Coate, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, wrote to taught postgraduate students ahead of their results on Wednesday 12 July. You can read her full email below:
Dear Student,
I am getting in touch with an update before your Masters results are due to be released on Wednesday 12 July.
Getting your Postgraduate Results
From 2.00pm on Wednesday 12 July, you will be able to access your Postgraduate results on Sussex Direct, via the Module Results tab.
As you may be aware, the University and College Union (UCU), which represents some University staff, is currently taking part in a national marking and assessment boycott. As a result, it is possible that some of your marks may not yet be available.
As soon as possible after results are published, and depending on your individual outcome, your School will email you to explain what these results mean for you. It will also point you to further information, if for example, you are required to take a resit in the A3 assessment period, or to other support and advice should you need it.
Please note, not all students will receive an email from their school, as some students will not need to take further action. However, if you receive an email from your school, it is important that you read this information carefully. Any questions should then be directed to your School office, in the first instance.
I want to offer my sincere apologies for the disruption and upset that the industrial action by UCU may cause to some of you. We know this has been a challenging time for many students and, while this is a national issue that has to be resolved at a national level, we are doing everything we can at Sussex to ensure that any outstanding marking gets completed as soon as possible. We are also doing all we can to influence the national situation, and to urge the re-start of negotiations between the union and the body representing universities.
Further support and information
To access further support, and the latest information and frequently asked questions about the impact of the boycott, I would urge you to access the Student Hub, which we are continuing to update as soon as we get any new information. You can also find information there on how to submit a complaint if you have been impacted by the industrial action.
We also have services available that provide advice on a range of subjects if you have concerns and need extra guidance or support, that can be accessed via the Student Centre.
With best wishes,
Kelly
