Earlier today, Kelly Coate, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, wrote to progressing students ahead of their results on Monday 3 July. You can read her full email below:
Dear Student,
I am getting in touch with an update before your results are due to be released next week.
Getting your results and your School email
On Monday 3 July, you will be able to access your results on Sussex Direct, via the Module Results tab. Release of marks is staggered via stage of study – please check Sussex Direct to find out what time your results will be released.
As you may be aware, the University and College Union (UCU), which represents some University staff, is currently taking part in a national marking and assessment boycott. As a result, it is possible that some of your results may not yet be available.
As soon as possible after results are published, your School will email you to explain what these results mean for you. It will also point you to further information if, for example, you are required to take a resit in the A3 assessment period, or to other support and advice should you need it. It is important that you read this information carefully. Any questions should then be directed to your School office, in the first instance.
I want to offer my sincere apologies at the upset and disruption the industrial action by UCU may cause to some of you. We know this has been a challenging time for many students and, while this is a national issue that has to be resolved at a national level, we are doing everything we can at Sussex to ensure that any outstanding marking gets completed as soon as possible. We are also doing all we can to influence the national situation, and to urge the re-start of negotiations between the union and the body representing universities.
Further support
In order to get further help and support, stay up to date and access frequently asked questions around the impact of the boycott, I would urge you to access the Student Hub, which we will continue to update as soon as we get any further updates or new information. You can also find information there on how to submit a complaint if you have been impacted by the industrial action.
We also have services available that provide advice on a range of subjects if you have concerns and need extra guidance and / or support, that can be accessed via the Student Centre.
With best wishes,
Kelly
