Hello,
Eat Central has served around 40,000 £2 meals since the Sussex menu initiative started in November. If you haven’t had a chance to try these delicious vegetarian and vegan options, you still have time until the end of the academic year.
The £2 subsidised meals, which were shortlisted for the Cost of Living Award at this year's Whatuni Student Choice Awards, are part of the University’s initiatives to support students with the increase in the cost of living.
You can find out more about the University’s cost of living support for students, including money and budgeting advice, on the Student Hub.

Your favourite study spaces on campus
On social media we asked you to tell us about your favourite places to study on campus. Here you can find the most popular results.
Postgraduate? You can win one of 20 £75 Amazon vouchers
The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is an opportunity for you to let us know about your postgraduate experience so far.
If you take part before it closes this Sunday 7 May, you will enter a prize draw for one of 20 £75 Amazon vouchers.
And for every postgraduate student who completes the PTES, we will donate £1 to a charity chosen by you during the survey.
Turner prize 2023 shortlist revealed
We’re Education Partner for Turner Prize 2023 at Towner Eastbourne, and last week the Prize shortlist was announced. The Prize is awarded to a British artist for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work in the previous 12 months, and aims to promote public debate around contemporary British art.
The free exhibition of the shortlisted work at Towner Eastbourne will run from 28 September 2023 to 14 April 2024. Check out the Towner Eastbourne website for more information on the Turner Prize exhibition.
Brighton Festival ticket competition
Sussex is the official Higher Education Partner for Brighton Festival 2023 and there are lots of interesting events now available to book.
David Ruebain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Culture, Equality and Inclusion) is introducing two events at the Attenborough Centre. A Survivor’s Guide to Politics with Rafael Behr on 10 May will look at the toxic atmosphere of modern politics. Munroe Bergdorf: Transitional on 27 May will be an opportunity to hear from the internationally-renowned activist, model, writer and broadcaster who will be talking about her book, ‘Transitional’.
You also have a chance to win two tickets to Suroor – the shape-shifting, experimental collaboration with this year’s Guest Director, Nabihah Iqbal – on 15 May. To enter, head to the Brighton Festival page on the Student Hub and fill in your email details by 12 noon on Wednesday 10 May.
Inclusive Sussex events
Hear about disability inclusion, liberation and equality at our upcoming event ‘Inclusive Sussex: In Conversation with Professor Tom Shakespeare’ on 17 May from 5.30pm-7pm. Tom Shakespeare is Professor of Disability Research at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and he will be joining Professor David Ruebain, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Culture, Equality and Inclusion) and panellists for what promises to be a fascinating discussion. Make sure you book your place.
David Ruebain is also hosting a free screening of the inspiring, award-winning documentary ‘Crip Camp’ on campus on Monday 22 May at 6.30pm. Crip Camp documents disability activists who attended a revolutionary summer camp for young people with disabilities in New York State in the 1970s. Their experience helped build a movement, creating a new path towards equality for disabled people. Book now.
You can find out more about the latest Inclusive Sussex news from across the University in David Ruebain’s recent update.
