Weekly transport updates

15 September 2022

Impacts to transport around student arrivals next week

Student arrivals will be taking place over four days this week, from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 September.

We are expecting thousands of new students to arrive on campus and move into their new homes for the next year during these days, which means campus will be extremely busy with most students arriving via car.

Please make note of the following if you are planning to travel to campus during arrivals:

  • Science car park (P1) and Upper Arts car park (P7a) will be unavailable during these four days to facilitate students moving in. Please do not park in these car parks, or leave your vehicle parked in these areas overnight during arrivals.
  • Arriving vehicles will be entering campus via the main Knights Gate Road entrance. There may be high traffic during peak times; we recommend staff use the lower Stony Mere Way entrance (by Stanmer Park) during the weekend.
  • We are expecting very high numbers of arrivals during Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September especially. Please avoid driving to campus during this weekend where possible, unless you are supporting with arrivals. Staff parking during the weekend should park in Jubilee Multi-Storey (P7).

Thank you for your understanding during this busy period.

Parking permit applications are open

Parking permit applications for staff and students on campus are now open. If you are a staff member or student and regularly park on campus, you will need to apply for a permit or pass-to-park, or use daily visitor parking.

Applications are open for all staff on campus (including third parties) via Sussex Direct and online application forms as appropriate.

Student parking permit applications are open via application forms on the Transport website.

See more information on applications for 2022/23 or visit the Transport website for full details on campus parking.
