We're planning a major upgrade to the CrashPlan backup service on Monday morning. The service will not be available between 9am and 12pm while we carry out the work but should be back online by lunchtime.
CrashPlan is the software used to back up data on staff laptops and other computers that don't use the central file systems. Laptops will not be able to back up data during the maintenance work but should catch up later in the day.
We're expecting performance to be improved by the upgrade which will also fix a number of background bugs. Once the upgrade is complete, staff who are working on newer operating systems, such as El Capitan for Mac, will be able to install a newer version of the software with better compatibility.
UPDATE: 15 Feb 2016 - 1:24pm
This morning's upgrade to the CrashPlan service was completed on schedule. The software, which is used to back up data on staff laptops, should now operate with improved performance and work more smoothly with laptops installed with more recent operating systems.
