Database software update

We've completed an update to the University's application databases this morning, Tuesday 29 July, upgrading to a newer version of MySQL.

Applications supported by MySQL databases are expected to continue to work without any problems. However there is a small chance of disruption if connections use functionality that's no longer supported in newer versions of MySQL.

If you manage a database on the central MySQL server, you should check any applications that connect to it to ensure they're compatible with the new version of the software (MySQL 5.6.19).
