Over the vacation we've been busy installing more PCs and making further improvements to the wi-fi network.
New PCs
In Shawcross, we've added a whole new room with 24 new PCs. There are now more than 80 computers available in the IT Services user area, including 11 Macs. We've also added 6 new touchscreen PCs on the ground floor of the library making a total of 105 new PCs in the Library since September.
There are also several new locations on the campus where students can use computers including:
Many of the new locations also have printers, giving more options for printing work when deadlines are approaching.
Improved wi-fi
The project to improve wi-fi across the campus has also been progressing well during the vacation. We took advantage of the break to complete some time-consuming infrastructure changes in Fulton which have enabled us to significantly improve the wi-fi coverage in the two lecture theatres and will support the extra wi-fi points to be installed in seminar rooms in the next few weeks. We've also installed new wi-fi points in Arundel and Bramber.
Residents in Stanmer Court will also have noticed technicians installing wi-fi points as we continue to extend the wireless network to residences. When we have completed work in Stanmer Court, we will be moving on to East Slope and Norwich House.
See our improvements page for more details on all of this year's updates.
