Contacts in academic Schools
Doctoral researchers should contact the Research and Enterprise Co-ordinator (REC) in their School to discuss arrangements for intermission, fieldwork, thesis submission and examination before contacting the Research Student Administration Office.
The Doctoral School Office
We support the Doctoral School in its collaborative, University-wide role to help realise the University’s research strategy and wider strategic plans. The Doctoral School's role includes:
- Liaison with external funding and policy bodies such as Research Councils
- Managing bids and awards for doctoral training and skills development for both faculty and doctoral students
- Managing doctoral scholarships
- Managing the Researcher Development Programme
- Working closely with other institutions, businesses, governments and civil society organisations to enhance the student experience and research environment
- Providing our doctoral students with the confidence and skills they need to become world-class researchers and communicators
- Promoting the contribution of doctoral research to academia, the economy and society as a whole, both on a national and international scale.
