- Funding scholarships and grants
The Doctoral School Office manages all of the doctoral training grants held by Sussex University, including the AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership and the ESRC Doctoral Training Centre. We oversee all doctoral scholarship schemes run by the University and advise current research students on how to access funding during the course of their degree.
Visit our funding pages for details of support available to researchers wishing to collaborate with other research organisations, undertake international study visits, present at overseas conferences and engage with potential employers.
- Training and Development (RDP)
Our Researcher Development Programme (RDP) is open to all doctoral and early career researchers and provides year-round training and development opportunities.
- Enchancing Research Student Experience
Many thanks to everyone who completed the 2013 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES). We received a response rate of 34.4% with feedback from over 450 doctoral researchers. Read our response and plans to act upon your feedback.
- Research Student Administration
The Research Student Administration Office helps ensure the provision of high quality postgraduate education by providing advice and information for current postgraduate research students, academic staff and professional services colleagues across the University. We monitor and record the academic progress and assessment of research students, process changes in students' status, administer the examination process from thesis submission to the viva outcome, and provide advice to current international research students. From October 2014, we will also manage admissions for postgraduate research students in partnership with the University's Schools, providing students and staff with a single point of contact for all the administration associated with the student's journey from initial application through to graduation.
Visit our codes, forms and handbooks pages to access the relevant handbooks, regulations and codes of practice relating to doctoral research at Sussex.
