Fake OneDrive emails

Posted: Fri 10 May 2019, 2:56pm.

Although they have not been seen yet at Sussex, fake OneDrive emails have been reported at other UK universities.

These emails say that a colleague or fellow student has shared a file with you using OneDrive. The branding may match a real email from OneDrive. There will be a link or button to view the file.

If you receive one of these emails, hover your mouse over the link without clicking on it. This will show you the URL of the link. If the email is from a University OneDrive account, the URL will start with https://universityofsussex-my.sharepoint.com

If you ever think that you might have given away your password to a phishing scam, change it immediately in Sussex Direct and then contact the IT Service Desk.
