Security Threat: “Are you on campus?” phishing attack

Posted: Tue 27 Nov 2018, 4:08pm.

Description of threat:

At least 13 people at Sussex have received very clever, targeted phishing emails with subject lines like “Are you on campus?”. They are sent from email accounts that include managers’ names, such as Susan Millns [susanmillns28@gmail.com].

Please take extra care to check that emails are genuine before you respond. Our security systems catch hundreds of thousands of malicious emails every year but some get through. You also need to be careful about the way you store information, secure your devices and use the web.

Please make sure you’ve read our Top 10 Security Tips.
