The time service is a campus wide time reference. It is a resilient service that provides an authoritative time source for both server and client synchronisation. It is a stratum-2 service that synchronises with the Janet stratum-1 servers which, in turn, use GPS, MSF, PPS and DCFatime sources. The Janet service also synchronises with other stratum-1 servers around the world.
The time service will typically maintain your local system clock to within a few milliseconds.
If you wish to configure your machine to use this service please point you date/time control panel (or equivalent) to timehost.sussex.ac.uk.
