Installing ArcGIS Desktop and/or Pro on your PC


This is a step by step guide to install the Geographic Information System, ArcGIS 10. 

Before you start

To perform the installation you will need:

Install and Activate ArcGIS Desktop

  1. Download the exe from the link at the top of the page.
  2. Once the download is complete, double-click the exe and complete the installation steps.
  3. Once the installation is complete, choose 'Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use' on the Administration Wizard.
  4. Then click the 'Authorize Now' button
  5. Now follow the activation steps below:

Install and Activate ArcGIS Pro

  1. Download the exe from the link at the top of the page.
  2. Once the download is complete, double-click the exe and complete the installation steps.
  3. Once the install is completed, on the Sign In page choose 'Configure your license options'
  4. On License Type choose 'Single Use License'
  5. For License Level choose 'Advanced'
  6. Then click the 'Authorize Now' button
  7. Now follow the activation steps below:
   
Activation Steps  

Select ArcGIS Desktop -  Advanced (ArcInfo) Single User

Click OK >

Select I have installed my software and need to authorize it

Click Next >

Make sure your internet connection is working by opening a web page

Select Authorize with ESRI now using the Internet

Click on Next >

Enter your first and last names

Enter University of Sussex as the Organization and Address

Enter your Email address

Click on Next >

Select the correct options for the drop down lists

Click on Next >

Enter the authorization code from the link at the top of the page

Click on Next >

Select I do not want to authorize any extensions at this time

Click on Next >

Click on Next >

Wait for the authorization process

Click on Finish >

Check ArcGIS been licensed by selecting Availability

This screen should display with expiry dates for ArcGIS and extensions

Click on OK to finish

Start ArcGIS

Select Customize, click on Extensions

From the Extensions menu, select the extensions that you want to use (this example shows 3D Analyst selected

Click on Close
